Somerset Sight is delighted to have been awarded funding from Hinkley Point C Community Fund.
The Charity is launching a new campaign to recruit more Volunteer Befrienders in Bridgwater and the surrounding areas.
By becoming a volunteer, you can assist a visually impaired person to safely leave their house and enjoy all the local environment has to offer.
Jackie Sopwith the CEO said “I cannot thank the Trustees of the HPC Community Fund enough for this funding which will enable Somerset Sight to extend their support for people with visual impairment in the area, many of whom have been adversely affected by the increased hazards, noise and congestion during the construction phase. We are seeking up to 40 volunteers of any age who will enjoy meeting new people and offering friendship and local knowledge to those with sight loss. This is a very rewarding and enjoyable role and will leave a lasting legacy in the community”.
Do you have a few hours a week free to support a person living with sight loss in your community? Full training and support is provided.
