We are very pleased to announce that Somerset Sight has been honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service aims to recognise outstanding work by volunteer groups to benefit their local communities. It was created in 2002 to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.
This is an amazing achievement and our thanks go out to all our dedicated volunteers who do so much to support people with visual impairment throughout the county. To receive a Queen’s Award is a very great honour and we are absolutely delighted that our volunteers have received this award in recognition of the amazing work they do.
I am sure you will wish to join the Chair, Trustees and staff of Somerset Sight in congratulating our volunteers on this magnificent achievement.
